Rob’s Dream Company (a notional corporation) is more than just a technology company. It’s any sort company I’ve ever wanted to try my hands at, and for the past few years one of those options has been a restaurant.

I’m not so interested in working at nights, which is kind of a downside to a restaurant, but I sort of worked that around in my (remember: unlimitedly funded) head by making it a chuck wagon type place.

There are any number of small, daytime-only restaurants around, most of which exist in commercial and industrial parks and focus on lunch-time crowds, which is sort of perfect for me, since I really enjoy lunchy sorts of foods.

As I’ve sort of rambled about before, Rob’s Dream Company (a notional corporation) has an important location criteria in that it needs to be located somewhere near where it’s employees (read:me) can choose from a selection of good foods. These good foods (burger, burrito, pad thai, chicken curry) form the basis of Rob’s Dream Restaurant (a notional corporation) menu.

I don’t know anything about running a restuarant, not a damn thing, and I don’t claim to, which is part of the reason this is significantly more fantastic than most of Rob’s Dream Company (a notional corporation) properties, but I do know that I love making really good food, and sometimes I even manage to pull it off.

This weekend I made some burgers from freshly ground sirloin. They were pretty decent, but had a few issues, primarily with being too dry. I think part of that is because I used some fairly trim sirloin, and I need to source my burger meat from a different cut.

I think running a day-time only, lunch-oriented restaurant would be a pretty good time, but only if I could afford to throw money away for a few years until I got tired of it. Maybe after I become a multi-millionaire through other means.
